about

I wrote this song after watching a film in Geography class about the lost children of Sudan. I was so saddened after having watched this heartbreaking documentary that I didn't even want to think about it, but when I sat down to write a song, I could not bring myself to write about anything else.

lyrics

Little girl, are you warm tonight?
Probably not very much.
Little boy, did you fall asleep last night?
Did the monsters come take you away?
Oh oh oh oh yeah
Oh oh oh oh yeah

Don't cry upon the grave of your father
just 'cause your mother told you he was gone.
Don't die thinking you weren't useful,
just another kid to watch on.
And when you're walking through the night and you see
the north star shining bright,
remember you're a hero,
you are grand,
you are a warrior,
you are a man.
You are strong,
and courageous,
fearless,
you can do this.

You're not alone
in this world tonight,
turn around and look at the light.
There's a train
that can take you away from here,
away from the hunger,
away from the fear.
Oh oh oh oh yeah
Oh oh oh oh yeah

And it's okay to feel afraid.
This world can be a scary place.
There will always be
obstacles that you will have to face,
but it's okay because

You're a hero, you are grand,
you are a warrior, you are a man,
you are strong,
and courageous,
fearless,
you can do this.

Now when you're walking through the night,
you'll be alright, you'll be alright.
